My name is Pam and I’m a wife, mom, daughter, friend, maid, cook, chauffeur, and cheap wine connoisseur. I’ve worked as a personal trainer, medical sales rep, and rehab specialist…but I’d say that being a mom is my hardest job yet. Of all of the other jobs I’ve ever had. Combined. BUT it’s the best thing in the world, right?? Well, I think it is.
I absolutely LOVE being at home with my babies while they’re little. I was the mom that dropped our daughter off at preschool for her first day and cried as I waved goodbye to her and she ignored me. She was squealing with excitement over her new friends and her classroom filled with new toys and books and I just stood there staring at her, trying not to lose it. Cried the whole way home, too. By the time I got home, it was almost time to go back and pick her up because she’s only there for 2 hours and 45 minutes. Two times per week. Our poor son won’t get that reaction when he starts preschool because now I know what a little bit of freedom during the day feels like, so when they’re both in school together, I may do a cartwheel when I drop them off on the first day. Or skip home. High-five the teacher on my way out. I haven’t decided yet, but I’ll be sure to let you know.
I run a Facebook fitness page that I started as a way to hold myself accountable in my own workouts because if you’re sharing with the world that it’s time to lose the baby weight, you can’t NOT do it, right?
Moving back a bit – I actually decided to live a healthier life shortly after my mom passed away in October of 2016. Our daughter was about 14 months old and our son was 6 weeks old at the time when that happened and I was feeling totally helpless and overwhelmed. At a time when things seemed to be spinning out of control, I made a decision to take control what I could – and that was what I was eating and how often I was exercising. Isn’t it nice how exercise can be a form of free therapy? I won’t go into the dark details of that time, but man…exercising and eating right really helped me get through a lot of it.
Over time, my fitness page evolved into being able to help others with their own fitness journeys and connecting with other moms who feel as if there’s no possible way they can get healthy and lose weight and I’ve genuinely enjoyed every minute of it. It’s been a total win-win because a lot of the women I’ve met have been through the same or similar challenges I have…so they’re able to help me through mine while I’m able to give guidance in starting or continuing on with their fitness journey.
SO…all of that has led to THIS which I’m so excited for! I love sharing my exercise and nutrition tips that actually WORK for busy moms! Spending 12 hours on a Sunday meal prepping and packaging everything into 60 Tupperware containers sounds like a fun, healthy plan, but really…who has the time to do that?! Not me. The meals I show are quick, simple, and don’t take a lot of prep time. A lot go into crockpots so you literally just let it sit while it cooks. I’m convinced I could put an old gym shoe in the crockpot with some chicken broth and seasoned salt and it’d come out tasting good. Crockpots work miracles.
What to expect here: lots of simple recipes, home exercises that use little to no equipment, my go-to foods and meal prep hacks, pictures of my kids, and LOTS of mom talk so we can all help each other and/or vent about the terrible twos and sleep regressions.
